Pick your instrument & start balance
On the dashboard startup card, select any of the 20+ Deriv Synthetic instruments (Volatility, Boom/Crash, Jump, Step) and enter a starting paper balance. Click Start Backtesting.
Explore the chart & replay
Switch timeframes (1m → 24h) using the top bar. Draw levels with the toolbar on the left. When ready, use Replay mode to forward-test your strategy bar by bar.
Jump to Date (Cut Point)
Click the calendar icon in the replay bar. Your cursor becomes a vertical cut line — move it to the date you want to start from and click once to set the cut. Everything after that date is hidden.
Play & Pause
Press the Play button to replay the market continuously. Use the speed selector (0.5× / 1× / 2× / 5×) to control how fast bars are revealed. Press Pause at any time to analyse the chart.
Step Forward
Use the Step button to reveal exactly one candle at a time. Perfect for analysing individual bar reactions, rejection wicks, or candle-by-candle SMC setups.
Remove Cut
The Remove Cut button restores all hidden bars and returns the chart to its full history. All your drawings stay in place.
Pro tip
Set your cut point at the beginning of a trading session (e.g. London open), draw your bias and key levels, then press Play to watch how price reacted — without knowing the outcome first. This trains discipline and removes hindsight bias.
